For far too long, clothing resale has been out of the reach of fashion savvy men of the southern regions. From women only shops to shady Ebay dealers to tatty jumble-sale style outlets.

However, we’ve found a young man prepared to break the mould and work hard enough to bring the useful and desirable world of designer resale clothing to us gentlemen.

‘The Designers’ is a designer clothing resale shop in Bournemouth that caters to men as well as women. Owner, Tim Fitzgerald, travels far and wide with regular trips to Milan, Spain, London and around the South collecting new and nearly-new pieces ensuring the stock is unique & always exceptional.

For those who have yet to dip their toe in the resale pool, here’s how it works. From DKNY to Dior, Moschino to McQueen, Pucci to Prada, Valentino to Versace, The Designers displays your items in their shop for six weeks at an agreed price on a 50/50 commission basis. The sale price depends on what year, what original price and what condition your items are in. Now, sit back and wait for the cheque.

“The idea itself is nothing new, but for some reason the male market has never been catered to, at least in the southern regions.” Says Tim. “Nowadays, men are just as fashion savvy as women yet have never had the opportunity to sell-on last season’s wardrobe, or pick-up some one-off pieces at a fraction of the original price, until now.”

This is modern and flexible retail.

“So many people told me that men wouldn’t buy second-hand clothing, but I’ve been inundated with gentlemen who would like the designer gear but don’t have the cash for a much needed Milan shopping spree.” Tim concludes.

The icing on the cake seems to be ‘The Designers’ philosophy. Only immaculate condition, only contemporary and couture designer goods accepted. The rails aren’t overfilled and best of all, if you’ve got a wardrobe to clear-out, they come to you.
